Seeking Election Judges for Healthcare Facilities

Dear Friends,
Minneapolis Elections & Voter Services (EVS) is seeking Election Judges to work with the 2022 Health Care Facility Voting team for both the State Primary and General Election.
During the 20 days before each election, the Health Care Facility (HCF) program brings ballots - and secured ballot boxes - to the residents of 17 Minneapolis nursing homes. On a set day and time, each facility is visited by a team of trained health care election judges who help residents cast an absentee ballot for that election.
A mini-polling place is set up in a room in each facility and residents come to that room to vote. Election judges work in party-balanced teams of two to help voters who want or need assistance. Some voters do not require assistance and cast their ballots independently, just as most voters do in the polls on Election Day.
Facilities vary in size with visits scheduled Monday through Friday, morning and afternoon (on many days). The election judges travel to and from a facility as a team of 7-8 people (on average), meeting at EVS for a pre-visit meeting and carpooling from there. Responsibilities include post-visit processing to prepare ballots for tabulation by the Absentee Ballot Board.
On average, Health Care Election Judges are scheduled for 35-45+ hours during the 20-day HCF voting period; actual hours worked may vary and flexibility is appreciated. The rate of pay is $18.85/hour. It would be best if you have complete availability during these 20 days, but they can likely work around a couple previous commitments, should you have some.
The Health Care Facility Voting period for both Primary and General are below. They would like judges who can commit to being available to work both the Primary and General.
- Primary Election – Health Care Facility Voting Period:
Wednesday, July 20th – Monday, August 8th.
Training will be held on Tuesday, July 19th - General Election – Health Care Facility Voting Period:
Wednesday, October 19th – Monday, November 7th.
Training will be held on Monday, October 17th or Tuesday, October 18th
